Hard Tonneau Covers

Hard tonneau covers are usually the most secure truck bed cover and offer the best look for your truck. These covers are normally offered in a black textured finish which is meant to mimic the black trim found on most pick up truck beds nowadays.

The covers do not roll-up or fold, or retract, instead they often hinge at the front of the truck bed and open and close somewhat similar to a hood or truck on a car. Most hard tonneau covers need to be removed if you need to haul tall items in your truck bed, but the removal is usually quite simple. Typically, the rear of the cover is released from pneumatic (gas) props and the cover can then be released from the front hinges. These covers typically take two people to remove them because they are quite bulky, but not necessarily heavy.

The materials used in these covers vary. Some use TPO plastic, others use aluminum, and others use ABS plastic.

Hard covers tend to offer excellent weather protection and most of them claim to be "weather tight" or something like that. (We aren't aware that any tonneau cover manufacturer makes the claim that their tonneau cover is "waterproof".) Installed correctly, these covers keep your truck bed dry from the elements quite well.
